working with the local venue host.
OTHER NEW BUSINESS
- Renumbering of USA Bylaws
Motion by Nia Cottrell to authorize the Bylaws Committee to renumber the entire USA Bylaws so that it is numbered properly, logically, and consistently, and to make grammatical corrections that do not change the meaning of the sentence.
- Motion by Michele Scareberry to amend the Universal Sieger Regulations to add: Beginning with the year 2010, handler owned and trained dogs (HOT) will receive an additional five points.
(Additional points are awarded for dogs bred in the USA, so handler owned and trained dogs should also be awarded additional points.)
- Membership Requirement for Regional/National/Helper Events
Motion by Nathaniel Roque that an entrant must be a USA member to be eligible to enter any USA sanctioned regional, national, or helper event.
- Membership Requirement for Club Events
Motion by Nathaniel Roque that an entrant must be a member of an AWDF member club to enter any
USA-sanctioned club event.
- Binding Arbitration Agreement
Motion by Sean O’Kane that members shall be required to agree to binding arbitration in the case of a legal dispute with USA by signing a statement on their membership application/renewal.
- Clarification of Affiliation/Sanctioned Trial Scheduling
Motion by Ann Marie Chaffin that an affiliated club that hosts an affiliation trial and is approved shall be allowed to host a USA sanctioned trial the following day.
(Some clubs find it too expensive to host an affiliation trial and then a sanctioned trial at a later date. We have allowed this in the past.)

AWDF Scorebook Policy Changes
Effective July 15, 2009
USA Treasurer Sean O'Kane has announced a new policy on how your dog's breed will be recorded in your new scorebook. Starting July 15, 2009, if you want your dog's breed listed in your new scorebook, you will need to get a scorebook from your respective breed organization. These are listed on the AWDF website. For German Shepherds, the breed organization will continue to be USA. For Rottweilers - USRC, for Malinois - AWMA.
This change was approved at the recent AWDF annual meeting.
If you have a breed other than a German Shepherd and elect to get a scorebook from USA, the breed will be recorded in the score book as, "Mixed Breed". If you get a scorebook from another breed organization, the book will need to be sent to the USA office to get stamped for use in USA events. For more information about this change, Click here.
From Our Regional Breed Warden
Hello everyone,
Club contacts… as RBW, I would appreciate it if you all could email me your trial and show results from September, 2007 going forward, I guess until I am no longer in office… I would like to maintain records each year of how many dogs are titled, show rated, and breed surveyed within our Region, under USA events, each year so that our membership can be updated of this information in total at our yearly Regional Meeting. Let’s please start with September forward, as this is when I have taken over. So please, if you have a past event, can you forward your information to me? Again, trial and show results, puppies, everything… even points earned on tracking-obedience-protection in trials and pass/fails in trials.
For individuals, I would also like to maintain records on USA registered litters. If you could email me any past litter records that you have registered with USA. If you’d like, you can just send me your litter registration application like you’d do for USA. I’d like to keep track of how many males/females are born, under which kennel name, owner of kennel name, DOB, etc.
Please feel free to forward this on to your members or individuals, please forward on to any other people that you know are USA members that use the USA registry.
If any of this information needs to be faxed to me, you can do so at: 208-585-3825, which is also my home phone number, however, I need to know when you will be faxing any information to me because I need to turn the fax machine on.
Thank you, Heidi Theis
